Hi Travel bugs!
Hope Rachel's discomfort was fleeting and that this finds you BOTH well. I'm revelling in my long weekend.
I tapped out several paras last night, but unfortunately used the back arrow to show Stephen your wonderful wildlife photos and lost the lot (or at least couldn't find it again). Too disappointed to do it all again without a time interval. Another lesson learned the hard way!
Despite the Intrepid handicap you seem to have had a worthwhile experience in the Galapagos. Mostly mundane stuff happening here. Visited the foot specialist on Wednesday & was unimpressed at having to wait 50 minutes past my appointment time. Also unimpressed with the whole exhorbitantly priced interview as he didn't really offer anything other than commenting that my R foot was stiff in the middle. Didn't mention the N word though, so that was some relief. I left with a script for a cortisone injection, but I think I'll stick to my podiatrist in future.
A week ago I was stricken with extreme wrist pain which had the beneficial (though temporary) effect of making me forget my sore feet. This pain precipitated me into glucosamine quick smart (as well as Deep Heat arthritis cream and wrist supports). Don't know exactly what did the trick, whether it was the combination effect or pure chance, but the pain subsided after a few days. I've discovered that Deep Heat has been very comforting rubbed into my feet - quite an inexpensive analgesic. Have an appointment with a hand specialist in mid March, but suspect that may lead to surgery as my R index finger has lost a degree of function.
Peter's medical problems are on hold for the time being. His PSA score was raised on the last one taken, so he was recalled to the Dr today. No panic yet, but he does have to have a confirming blood test.
We have now booked to travel on 5 May to Barcelona. We'll meander around Spain & Portugal for a couple of weeks, then hightail up to Amsterdam to catch a flight to Reykjavik for a 12 day tour of Iceland. That should do the arthritis a world of good! Return to Singapore 7 June. I couldn't locate your itinerary when I looked last night, can you please advise how to find it?
Stephen starts a Commerce degree @ Curtin next week (his first choice). I hope he can make a successful transition to study after such a long interval. He has been doing a bit of training with the local Bulldogs team on our local sports ground.
Nat has started a FT job in the UWA business school - temporary for 6 weeks) following which she will join the Planning Office of Swan Districts Council. They are amenable to wrapping around her studies, which is a big bonus & very different to the attitude at Belmont Council.
Lys has become triathlon crazy. She & Hayden will compete in the running events at Narrogin tomorrow. Next week she's entering the Matilda Bay triathlon. Sarah has been quite a support for her though she no longer competes herself as she has repercussions from a previous glandular fever attack.
Adios amicis
Mary
